Editorial Review

The cozy room bustles with suits at lunch, yielding to a more subdued crowd at night. The five-page menu is strong on izakaya: tapas-style appetizers, such as a dish of octopus and baby cucumber with red chili dressing. A small chalkboard lists the sushi of the day; a heavy hand with the wasabi keeps nasal passages clear. The agemono set is a generous platter of deep-fried goodness: shrimp, chicken, snapper, potato and squash in a crunchy panko coating, with smoky barbecue sauce and sharp mustard offered for dipping. Efficient service.
