Camp Robin Hood

This 60-year-old family-run day camp has a homespun feel and an activity roster straight out of Meatballs. Arts and crafts, canoeing, pottery, cookouts, theatre, music, wall climbing, baseball, storytelling, gymnastics, volleyball, mountain biking, rollerblading and minigolf are but a few of the diversions offered. There are two swim lessons each day (in one of four heated pools), led by Red Cross–certified instructors. Staff-to-student ratios are good: one to two for pre-kindergarten; one to seven for senior kindergarten through Grade 7. Athletically minded kids will want to sign up for the Sports Academy, where each day is focused on the sport of their choice: baseball, basketball, golf or tennis, perhaps. Door-to-door transportation and snacks are provided; an optional lunch program is $70 for two weeks. Ages four to 15; Campers in Training program 18 months to three and a half.

July 1 to Aug. 23
