Founded in 1983, Dance Theatre holds creative movement classes for children as young as three. In one session, tiny dancers move to an accompanying piano tune, skip to a rhythm, then float around the room to a lyrical sonata. Class sizes range from 10 to 20 students and are overseen (in the case of ballet) by Royal Academy of Dance–certified instructors. At age seven, children are advised to choose a stream that suits them (extensive training in ballet, modern Limón, jazz, tap and hip hop is offered), but the school encourages students to be well versed in a range of techniques.
Hours:
Sept. to July, hours vary.
How much:
: $658–$2,000 per year; summer camp $250–$1,000
