This tiny niche shop at the edge of the Davisville high-rise corridor charges less than half the cover price on used stock, while new books are discounted from 20 to 50 per cent. It specializes in children’s titles (from babies to age 18) with a specialty in board books and collectibles—a signed Jacob Two-Two ($200), say, or vintage Hardy Boys serials from the 1940s ($35–$45). But there are lots of paperback thrillers, romance and other genre fiction, including a strong selection of mysteries (everything from Sayers and Simenon through current faves Robinson and DeLeon) most priced at $3 or $4; Miller knows every spine in the section. The fiction offerings are equally strong, including everything from Murdoch and Naipaul to chick lit. There are $1 hardcovers in a back room and 50-cent romances in a bin outside the store.
Hours:
Tu–Sa 10–6, Su 10–4.
