How many courses in southern Ontario allow you to admire your drive as it arcs against an actual mountain? In the shadow of Mount Nemo, this Rene Muylaert–designed course is a unique challenge with a tantalizing variety of holes. The escarpment influences every green, and some of the breaks seem to defy gravity. Trust your brain, not your eyes: remember that grain grows the way water flows, and everything will be all right. The back tees measure just over 6,400 yards, but play longer. Of the few blind tee shots, none is tougher than the ninth. Don’t trust the advice posted by the hole that suggests teeing off with a mid-iron. Hit it straight and long—anything less than 220 yards and you’ll be lucky to see half the green. Despite first impressions, there are no trick holes here, just some reasonable tests for both high and low handicappers.
