Mexican playwright Sabina Berman’s work about the rivalry between Jean Racine (Rick Roberts) and Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, a.k.a. Molière (Richard McMillan), features enough Machiavellian 17th-century machinations to make a 21st-century gossip girl blush. When the archbishop of France goes about crushing the country’s number one comedy man with the help of tragedy lover Racine, he sets in motion a cage match for the ages. Richard Rose directs.
