Every May, members of music’s avant-garde converge on the Quebec city of Victoriaville for the Festival international de musique actuelle, which offers several days of ear-splitting, mind-bending sounds. Featuring drone-metal king Stephen O’Malley and electronic music experimentalist Peter Reh­berg, KTL makes a stopover to play VTO, a local spinoff that boasts the same adventurous spirit.—Jason Anderson
