BrazilFest

  • Toronto Olympic Island
For one day, the Brazilian scene shifts from Dundas West to the Toronto Islands. Montreal percussion troupe Batucada Zuruba plays samba reggae, Brazil’s Forró Mulambo Groove channels a trad style of forró, and Bahian singer-guitarist Salviano Pessoa blends Brazilian rhythms with funk and jazz, while DJs Cesar Murillo and Junior heat up the dance floor. There are workshops in capoeira and samba, plus plenty of kids’ stuff. July 20. Olympic Island —Brent Ledger
