A NIGHT OF GRAND OPERA Tenor Mark DuBois hosts an evening of great arias, duets, trios and quartets, including hits from La traviata, La bohème, The Magic Flute and Porgy and Bess. Joining him onstage are soprano Leslie Fagan, mezzo-soprano Gabrielle Prata, baritone Gregory Dahl, pianists Guy Few and Paul Stewart, and the Festival Winds. Aug. 9. $26–$35.
CARMINA BURANA This year’s fest winds down with a performance of Carl Orff’s irrepressible Carmina Burana, with soprano Fagan, tenor DuBois, baritone Peter McGillivray, the Elmer Iseler Singers, Bach Children’s Chorus, piano duo James Anagnoson and Leslie Kinton, and a percussion ensemble, all conducted by Lydia Adams. Aug. 10. $22–$31.
CARNIVAL Renowned actor Colin Fox narrates a performance of Camille Saint-Saëns’ entertaining Carnival of the Animals (with a new text by Gary Michael Dault), featuring flutist Suzanne Shulman, clarinetists Campbell and David Bourque, bassoonist James McKay, trumpeter Few, violinists Mark Fewer and Julie Baumgartel, violist Graham Oppenheimer, cellist Marc Johnson, double bassist Joel Quarrington, pianists Anagnoson and Kinton, and percussionist Beverley Johnston. Also on the program are Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas’ Ocho por radio, and Edmonton composer Allan Gilliland’s Fantasia on themes from West Side Story. Aug. 6. $22–$31.
MUSIC FOR A SUMMER EVENING Baritone Kevin McMillan sings Mahler’s moving 1885 cycle Songs of a Wayfarer, while a host of other fine musicians are featured in Franz Schubert’s much-loved Piano Quintet in A Major, D. 667 (“Trout”) and the two-piano version of Johannes Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Haydn, op. 56b. Performers include flutist Shulman, clarinetist Campbell, violinist Mark Kaplan, violist Oppenheimer, cellist Clancy Newman, double bassist Jeffrey Stokes, and pianists Luba Dubinsky, Stewart, Yael Weiss, Anagnoson and Kinton. Aug. 1. $22–$31.
RUSSIAN INSPIRATION Duo-pianists Anagnoson and Kinton welcome fellow keyboardist Stewart for Anton Arensky’s Suite for Two Pianos, op. 15; and Nikolay Medtner’s Fairy Tale Sonata for Piano in C Minor, op. 25, no. 1, and Forgotten Melodies (the op. 38 set). Aug. 1. $16–$19. —Rick MacMillan
