When the Art Gallery of Ontario reopens with Frank Gehry’s dramatic, shield-like exterior, visitors will have the chance to get reacquainted with a permanent collection that has been in storage for far too long. The season’s highlight is Ken Thomson’s much-touted bequest, which includes Peter Paul Rubens’ The Massacre of the Innocents and Paul Kane’s mid-19th-century slice of Canadiana, Scene in the Northwest.
