In this edition of The Weekender, a food festival, a frisbee championship and three other things to do in Toronto this weekend.

FOOD

Taste of Toronto
The international Taste Festival franchise pitches camp in Toronto this weekend for four days of high-class face-stuffing. Some of the best restaurants in the city are participating. Guests can look forward to crab-and-prawn rolls from THR & Co, Atlantic salmon from Splendido and spicy shrimp from Khao San Road, among plenty of other offerings. Until July 27. Admission $30–$100, food extra. Fort York, 250 Fort York Blvd. tasteoftoronto.com

TEA

2014 International Hong Kong–style Milk Tea Competition (FREE!)
Milk tea, a silky-smooth combination of black tea and evaporated milk, practically runs from the faucets in Hong Kong, where the beverage is an everyday staple. A group of local tea enthusiasts will pit their brews against one another in the hopes of winning a spot in the final round of the competition, to be held in Hong Kong. July 27. FREE. New Kennedy Square, 8360 Kennedy Rd., eventbrite.ca

CYCLING

2014 Toronto Vintage Bicycle Show (FREE!)
As more Torontonians turn to two-wheeled transportation, bikes have increasingly become fashion accessories. But no matter how stylish the new models look, they can never match the classics. The Toronto Vintage Bicycle Show will bring together owners of cycling apparatus that has only improved with age. July 27. FREE. Trinity Bellwoods Park, communitybicyclenetwork.org

FILM

Come to Daddy: Horror Shorts Soirée (FREE!)
This mini-film festival by Fangoria and Johnny Revelation will feature a selection of rarely screened horror shorts by local directors. Plenty of beer will be available for anyone whose bravery needs a chemical boost. July 26. FREE. 3030, 3030 Dundas St. W., facebook.com

SPORTS

American Ultimate Disc League Championship Weekend
Ultimate frisbee is often derided as a sport for heavy drinkers and potheads (and, to be fair, at many universities that’s exactly what it is), but there is an actual, semi-professional frisbee league now, and its championships are happening in Toronto. Following two semifinal games—one of which will pit the Toronto Rush (yay) against the New York Empire (boo)—two teams will face off for $25,000 and a trophy. The Blue Jays aren’t in town this weekend, so you might as well go. July 26–27. $10.95–$14.95. Varsity Stadium, 299 Bloor St. W. theaudl.com
