Long Day’s Journey Into Night Soulpepper has devoted a large portion of its new season to the American oeuvre. A real downer for CanCon hawks, but terrific news for fans of Eugene O’Neill. This most classic of classic American plays stars real-life couple Joseph Ziegler and Nancy Palk—who were terrific Lomans in the company’s Death of a Salesman—as a long-married alcoholic husband and morphine-addicted wife during a gruelling day at the seaside with their grown sons. The Jim Cuddy Band The title track of Skyscraper Soul, Cuddy’s third solo album, is an ode to the city he feels is unjustly maligned. It’s also a perfect description of the Blue Rodeo co-frontman’s musical territory, a mellow, thoroughly urbanized form of country pop that owes more to Jackson Browne than it does to Hank Williams.
