CHARITY

Terry Fox Run
The annual run honouring of one of Canada’s greatest heros is back this Sunday. A great way to meet your neighbours, enjoy the mid-September sun and raise money for cancer research. Participating neighbourhoods include: High Park, Mooredale, Ward’s Island, Forest Hill, Wilket Creek Park and the Beach. Sept. 15. Various locations, 1-888-836-9786, terryfox.org

FESTIVAL

Roncesvalles Polish Festival (FREE!)
This lively neighbourhood party celebrates Polish culture through live dance performances, music and plenty of food (so save room for pierogies and kielbasa). September 14–15. Roncesvalles Avenue from Hewitt Avenue to Harvard Avenue. 416-537-2701, polishfestival.ca

EXHIBITION

Christian Louboutin exhibition at the Design Exchange
Popularized by celebrities, socialites and Carrie Bradshaw, Christian Louboutin’s red-bottomed shoes are very glamorous and occasionally wacky. This weekend is your last chance to see this acclaimed retrospective, which shows the designer’s evolution over his 20-year career. Ends September 15. $18–$22. Design Exchange, 234 Bay Street, 416-216-2160, dx.org

MOVIES

Toronto Indie Film Festival
Had enough of TIFF blockbusters? Head to Carleton Cinema for a nightly lineup of two low-budget features and six to eight shorts. Our pick: In Return, in which a young man doesn’t know that the women he’s in love with is homeless. Ends September 14. $8, Magic Lantern Theatres, 20 Carlton Street. 416-598-5454, film-fest.ca
