Afrofest (FREE!)
The celebration of African culture, art and entertainment (which is also celebrating its 25th birthday) brings two days of music, bustling marketplaces, workshops and all kinds of art to Woodbine Park. A prayer for Nelson Mandela will conclude the festivities. July 6-7. Woodbine Park, afrofest.ca

Parkdale Flea Market (FREE!)
The Parkdale Flea Market is the city’s newest hipster pop-up for antiques, vintage collectibles and handcrafted trinquets. The market opens Sunday with more than 50 booths set up inside and outside the Goodfellas Gallery on Queen Street West. July 7. 1266 Queen St. W., parkdaleflea.com
THEATRE
Toronto Fringe Festival
Toronto’s largest festival brings over 1,000 performances to venues across the city, including tents, alleyways and even car backseats. There’s also food, free concerts and yoga with beer. July 3-14. $10/$5 children (per play). Various locations, fringetoronto.com

Toronto Urban Roots Festival
The Fort York Common hosts four nights of label-defying, radio-averse tunes from bands like Juno-winners Arkells, Celtic punk outfit Flogging Molly and She & Him, Zooey Deschanel’s collaboration with folk singer-songwriter M.
