Name: TLP
Neighbourhood: Downtown Core
Contact Info: 15 Elm St., 416-662-3546, @TLPSandwich
Owner: Pat Orgera, Jon Andrews and Arron Barberian, owner of Barberian’s Steakhouse
Chef: Bob Bermann, previously the chef and co-owner of Boba
The Food: Take-away sandwiches with classic toppings. Rather than focusing on what’s trending, owners Orgera, Andrews and Barberian designed the menu with portability in mind: the sandwiches are carefully engineered to travel well without getting soggy. Among the options: a chicken-thigh club, a fried-calamari sub and the namesake TLP, a spin on the BLT with peameal instead of strip bacon. Patrons are strongly encouraged to add their preferred amount of Kozlik’s mustard, and to pair their sandwich with chunky steak fries.
The Place: TLP stands for “three little pigs”—a reference to the trio of friends behind the business. The simple space used to be a wine and meat-aging cellar for Barberian’s. It’s been given a minimalist makeover with marble countertops and subway-tiled walls.

Another 10 dollars sandwich shop. Just what the downtown needs.
I ordered the braised beef sandwich and then saw a chef walk in from the street with a box of mushrooms and then proceed to stick a finger into the beef to check the tempature. No handwashing or gloves involved.
Barberians has always been one of my favourite restaurants , and TLP didn’t disappoint ! The calamari sandwich was outstanding !
