Suck it, Montreal: two Toronto restaurants make it onto Food and Wine’s “best 100 experiences” list
In the ongoing battle over which city is Canada’s best for food, Toronto has gained some new bragging rights. The latest issue of Food and Wine came out on Friday, and the revered magazine has two Toronto hot spots in its annual roundup of “100 best new food and drink experiences.”
Props go to Charlie’s Burgers for making it into the top three. The write-up makes no mention of who Charlie is, but rather focuses on the questions asked of diner-applicants: “Expect a quiz (‘What would your last meal on earth be?’) when you e-mail for a seat and guest chefs at each meal.”
Barchef comes in at number 86, in the “innovative new bars” section. Alongside a recommendation for the famous $45 smoked Manhattan is a photo of Toronto’s own Frankie Solarik burning chartreuse with a blowtorch.
No other Canadian city made it onto the prestigious list, which gives the top spot to Tokyo chef Seiji Yamamoto’s new classical dishes and reserves a special section for New York’s great hotel restaurants.

Hmm, they managed to get a restaurant onto this list that hasn’t actually fully opened yet and only partially opened within the last two weeks (Momofuku Ma Peche).
Its very nice to hear that the restaurants are placed in best 100 experiences list. Montreal also got very very nice restaurants which makes people more jolly.
