Mark McEwan’s new restaurant, Fabbrica, will finally open on Friday
Two little reminders: one, Shops at Don Mills still exists, and two, Mark McEwan will be opening his casual Italian restaurant, Fabbrica, there on Friday. At yesterday’s press conference for Chef’s Challenge—the November 20 celebrity charity cook-off—McEwan served up some crostini with bone marrow butter and horseradish gremolata that’ll be on the menu at the new restaurant.
So for those keeping track over the past months, McEwan opened his fourth restaurant, signed on to be Top Chef Canada’s head judge on Food Network Canada, released a cookbook, Mark McEwan: Great Food at Home, and did a book signing for it earlier in the week. Is there some sort of culinary EGOT he’s going for?
Here’s a preview tour video McEwan did with the Food Network back in May in which he said he hoped to open in August, which, in the restaurant world, means October.
Yes another great resturant from the same people who brought you….I am going to eat at Fabbrica, I haven’t put much effort into looking what the concept is with a name like that I figure big open area and yummy big food, But my bone to pick is another resturant from the same ppl who brought you….I think its time we push the little guys some more.
The city of food brought to you by the same guys who brought you….Best of luck and make a resos for 6 at this place, I like to have my foodies friends fly in from all over to taste what we have to offer in Toronto, little words help push our city.
The new resto Fabbrica is STUNNING in a casual tasteful McEwan-ish way
got to admit the man has style ! The pizza oven is a beautiful BEAST of a thing!
I tried the Funghi pizza it was delicious with a really wonderful crust
very different from most Toronto spots. Awesome Bistecca best steak
ever- served with grilled Lemon & Roasted garlic meant for sharing.
Really showcases how much thought and preparation and hard work
to get a new Resto opened but it was Worth the Wait !
Best Wishes to Fabbrica McEwan has done it again WOW
mmm… I have to say I’m already a fan of most of the resturants at Shops at Don Mills because I can shop and the eat and drink – what more can a girl ask!? but I’m an even bigger fan of Mark McEwan so I’m petty excited to try this one out. My stomach is grummbling as I type this …
Wow! I can’t remember the last time I went to a restaurant and the every course was absolutely fabulous… Service was simple, and not pretentious or excessive. If you plan to eat there, order the crab papardelle and the budino for dessert.
Horrible food. Not worth the money, very expensive for what you get. Dishes are very unsual, fried pigs tails with polenta, veal brains, headcheese, rabbit, quail, etc. no chicken on the menu and if you want beef you have to pay $75 for a porterhouse steak(32oz) to split with another person. What if the other person doesn’t want or eat beef? Keep in mind, for the main meals are all a la carte, avg $15 per dish. Pizza’s are so, so bad, i can’t believe they cannot make a normal pizza, pizza dough, very salty, sauce is awfully and stingy on the toppings, especially cheese. This is not Italian by any standards. My advice, be very careful you may be very dissapointed.
Just ate @ Fabbrica and feel like I got taken to the cleaners. Poor service. Outrageous prices for what you get. Tiny tiny portions of pasta and $9 pints of so so Italian beer. Had to grab a sandwich on the way home. Nice decor though. I guess that’s where my money went.
worst dining experience ever.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT!
