Lynn Crawford’s new Riverdale restaurant to open in March
Celebrity chef and Restaurant Makeover star Lynn Crawford’s much-anticipated Riverdale restaurant, located in The Citizen’s former space, is set to open in March after its renovation is complete. The name, Ruby Watchco, comes from a 13-foot sign co-owners Cherie Stinson (a Restaurant Makeover interior designer) and husband Joey Skeir found at the Junction decor shop Cornerstone a few years ago. They immediately knew that the odd moniker would be the name of their dream restaurant.
As speculated, former Truffles chef Lora Kirk will join Crawford in the kitchen, creating an ever-changing menu that revolves around seasonal, local food that showcases Ontario growers.
Jon, Double-check but I believe name of Restaurant is:
Ruby Watchco – from above-mentioned Toronto Star article.
You’re right, Davenport. The mistake has been corrected in the post. Thanks.
Ms. Crawford’s name is also misspelt…LYNN that is!
Newsworthy is that one of country’s finest Sommeliers, Zoltan Szabo, who just won The Wine Tasting Challenge, is consulting on wine related matters…
Also fixed. Thanks, Jack.
Leslieville? Since when is Queen and Broadview Leslieville? Riverside, South Riverdale and even Queen Broadview Village… but Leslieville is a bit off.

In defence of Zoltan Szabo, he is a really nice guy and extremely talented sommelier, I worked with him. Remarks like yours, George, should not be published on this respected site and I urge its editors to remove your comments!
Hi, regarding Jack’s, George’s and Michael’s comments above: this small article is – should be – about Ms. Crawford and not the Szabos! I agree with Michael, too obviously professional jealousy-driven comments shall be removed from here, they are also irrelevant!
P.S. I know Zoltan & John both and they are equally outstanding wine professionals! Ms. Crawford is inspired by collaborating with any of the two!

I am looking forward to checking out this restaurant – even if it means a trip in from suburbia. I have long been a fan of Lynn’s food and her entire go local approach.
As for the comments about Zoltan (and John), I think Lynn and her partners have some of the best in the business. Having worked with Zoltan and John for a number of years, I know they are two of the best in the business. I can’t read the obviously negative comments that were placed here as they have been removed and if it was from one of our other colleagues it is sad to think that anyone would stoop so low. No one can ever claim to be a genius when it comes to wine because there is ALWAYS something to learn but Zoltan does keep up to date on everything wine related and Lynn is wise to have partnered with him for her wine list development.
Lynn, congratulations on your new restaurant, and your new show. I hope to try your food some day very soon.
