Ladurée, which was founded in 1862, is widely credited with having invented the macaron, that colourful, bite-sized pastry that’s rivalled only by the cupcake as Toronto’s trendiest baked good. Although the company’s spokespeople were unavailable for comment about a Toronto expansion, Céline Kaplan, who tweets on behalf of the brand, did pull a classic neither-confirm-nor-deny response to Govani’s original tweet:
