La Carnita to quit its wandering ways and open a permanent shop on College Street
La Carnita, the wildly popular roving taco stand, has finally found a spot to settle down, according to a post by Corey Mintz on Toronto.com. After selling thousands of tacos out of places like the Evergreen Brickworks and OneMethod’s offices at King and Spadina, owner Andrew Richmond will be bringing his Voltron fish taco indoors to a more permanent spot at 501 College Street (formerly home to Briscola and Cinq 01). Though the original idea was to stick around the King West area, La Carnita should be open for business near Little Italy’s revelers by June (Richmond has already posted a construction photo on Twitter). His rabid fans can only hope this will mean more reasonable lineups. Read the entire story [Toronto.com] »
you must be joking to wait for a taco…. some people just don’t get…. i for one don’t…..i haven’t even tried one and i certainly would not wait for one… good luck to all you foolish mexican food lovers
You obviously haven’t tried one, or you would know they’re well worth the wait. There are far too many bad Mexican restaurants in the city, it’s nice to finally have some great options. And to be able to find a good fish taco this far north.
Ken — life of the party!!
Ok, first of all, that pic was of the food event at the Evergreen Brickworks so there was a wait for most food. I for one, waited over 40 mins for those tacos only b/c everybody was raving about it. Would I have done it again? Probably not. Was it really good? It wasn’t out of the world but it was definately one of the better dishes I had at that event. Would I seek it out now that there will be a permanent location? Most definately yes.
