Introducing: Hunters Landing, a new post-game hangout in Concord CityPlace

Introducing: Hunters Landing

Name: Hunters Landing
Neighbourhood: Concord CityPlace
Contact Info: 82 Fort York Blvd., 647-352-6082, hunterslanding.ca
Owners: Steve Pelton and Jesse Topliffe from Joy Management Group, the company behind Williams Landing and South of Temperance, and Dennis Palma-Cedeño
Chef: Dennis Palma-Cedeño, the former executive chef of South of Temperance

The Food: Pub food with a Latin American bent, like mojo-glazed chicken wings and a burger topped with pulled pork and cotija cheese. On weekends, eggs Bennys come topped with lobster and braised beef.

The Drinks: Beer, sangria and house cocktails, including a monstrous Caesar garnished with a lobster tail, a brisket slider, smoked bacon, smoked mozzarella and house pickles.

The Place: Tucked away on the first two floors of a CityPlace condo tower, the restaurant draws an equal share of Bay Street brokers and post-game Jays’ fans looking to celebrate (or commiserate) with a beer. It caters to both groups with a massive freestanding bar, 10 flat-screen televisions and a 2,000-square-foot deck surrounded by potted trees and designer shrubs. Concrete floors and exposed ducts give the space an industrial feel.

The Numbers:
• $10,000 to rent out the Bird’s Nest, a second floor area with floor-to-ceiling windows
• 2000-square-feet of patio space
• 1834, a signature gin cocktail named after the year Toronto officially became Toronto (before then the city was called York)
• 160 staff members
• $32 for the most expensive dish on the menu, a rib eye steak with marscarpone mashed potatoes and bacon-Chianti sauce
• 14 hours to slow-braise the lamb for the lamb tagliatelle with caramelized onions
• 10 flat screen televisions
• 4 different burgers: a cheeseburger, a barbecued pork burger, a turkey burger and a tofu burger (called The Cheater)
