Everything at this new restaurant in the Annex will cost $4.95
In a city where sandwich prices have begun drifting into the mid-teens, the pricing model at this soon-to-open restaurant in the Annex seems fairly revolutionary (although not quite as revolutionary as the one at this restaurant). At El Furniture Warehouse, the first Toronto location of the Vancouver-based Warehouse restaurant chain, every single food item on the menu will cost $4.95, whether it’s a pulled-pork sandwich or a plate of nachos. Based on food shots from the Whistler location (and dozens of happy Yelp reviews), it’s not just an empty gimmick, either: the portions appear to be sizable and the food looks pretty appetizing, in a low-frills kind of way. “Basically, we always say we’re serving $20 restaurant meals for $4.95,” co-owner Sean Young told Post City. “It is top quality food.” Unfortunately, drinks don’t appear to be covered by the under-five-bucks rule, although seven-dollar mojitos are really nothing to complain about. The restaurant, which opens on July 1, will be located somewhere along Bloor Street between Spadina and Bathurst, although the precise location is apparently still a secret.
