Not all the Vancouver restaurants making the move to Toronto these days are Japanese. Yesterday, the Cactus Club Cafe, a “casual fine dining” chain whose kitchens are helmed by Vancouver’s Rob Feenie, announced it’s coming to the city next year with a location at 100 King Street West, right in the heart of the Financial District and very close to fellow West Coast chain Earls. “The restaurant industry in Ontario, and particularly in Toronto, is a discerning one,” says Cactus Club president Richard Jaffray in a release, “and we look forward to introducing them to our concept of upscale yet informal dining.” If the popularity of Earls is any indication, the newcomer should do fine.
