Toronto has a whole week devoted to not eating gluten

gluten_freedom_week_2014-e1399864908345For one fleeting week, gluten-avoidant diners will have the opportunity to order off regular menus without mildly exasperating everyone around them. From May 25 to 31, over 20 Toronto restaurants are offering three-course prix-fixe menus designed especially for those who have shunned gluten, for one reason or another. The list of participants includes trendy spots like Playa Hacienda, Täbulè and Yours Truly, which is great news for people who sometimes feel gross after eating lots of bread, or who heard somewhere that consuming gluten isn’t good for you. Unfortunately for the truly allergic, the restaurants can’t guarantee 100-per-cent gluten freedom—as made clear by the prominent disclaimer on the event’s website. Sorry again, celiac sufferers. Your day has yet to come.
