Six boozy ways with coffee and tea
Chris MacNeil, the bartender at Suits, the Trump Hotel’s power broker lounge, shares boozy recipes to kick up your next caffeine fix
1 | It’s Chilly This Time of Year (pictured)
Scoop a dollop of salted caramel ice cream into a glass mug. Pour two shots espresso and 1 ½ oz Brugal Anejo rum overtop.
2 | Hold the Eggs
Blend 1 cup simple syrup with 1 tsp bacon fat to make bacon simple syrup. Rinse martini glass with maple syrup. Shake 4 oz brewed coffee, 2 oz Maker’s Mark, ½ oz milk, ½ tsp bacon simple syrup and 1 tbsp maple syrup with ice. Garnish with a strip of bacon.
3 | Liquid Zen
Pour 1 cup hot green tea into a snifter. Add 2 oz sake, 1 lemon grass stalkand 2 tsp fresh grated ginger. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
4 | Smoking Jacket
Wrap a cigar in cheesecloth and steep overnight in a pitcher of brewed tea. Pour 1 cup tea, 1 oz Grand Marnier and 1 oz Hennessy into a snifter. Garnish with an orange rind.
5 | Tennessee Jim
Pour 2 oz Jim Beam bourbon, 2 shots brewed espresso and 3 oz frothed and steamed milk into mug. Drizzle with caramel sauce.
6 | Mexican Chaser
Scoop a dollop of vanilla ice cream into a clear cappuccino glass. Pour 2 shots cold espresso, 2 oz Tromba tequila and 2 tbsp agave nectar overtop.
