Parent and area realtor Marny Hersenhoren calls Ossington–Old Orchard the “holy grail” of public elementary schools, and points to the artsy parent population, small class sizes, and a past perfect 10 on the Fraser Institute Report Card. The site boasts a green playground space known as the Wilderness Garden, creative dance and movement programs for kindergartners, a Roots of Empathy program aimed at reducing aggression and bullying, and an eco-committee.

The staff of Ossington–Old Orchard has received a Garfield Weston Award for Excellence in Education four years in a row, which reflects the academic strengths of the school. On C. D. Howe reports, Grade 3 students scored in the 90th percentile and Grade 6 students scored in the 94th percentile.
