Peter Freed is elevating the downtown skyline with his well-designed buildings

THE DEVELOPER: A rising star, 39-year-old Peter Freed built his business over a 10-year period, developing townhouses and custom homes in Aurora, Brampton, Pickering and North York. His metamorphosis into unique, design-conscious loft developer was gradual, much of his inspiration coming from new residential projects in Barcelona, New York and South Beach.

TRACK RECORD: Eight Freed projects, all at various stages of completion, are sprouting up in the King-Wellington-Portland area. They’re low- to mid-rise buildings, turned out in attractive designs of glass and steel by Core Architects Inc. and Architects Alliance.

CURRENT PROJECT: The Fashion House condos on King West (between Portland and Brant streets) feature look-at-me red-draped windows that ensure the 360-unit building stands out boldly.
