As TIFF goes on, Toronto’s relationship with its A-list guests starts to change. We’ve reached the uncanny valley of star-spotting, where it feels like all these people just live here all the time, strolling around Ryerson, eating chicken wings and posing with cool dogs. This is the most exciting part of the festival—and the time when things sometimes get a little weird. Let’s dive in!

First up, Depp watch: all of a sudden, Johnny Depp is all over town! This weekend he ate at the Shangri-La’s Bosk restaurant with his wife, Amber Heard:

Today, he was out on the street, causing panic attacks at Ryerson:

…and just generally wearing a bunch of hats:

Speaking of the Shangri-La, its bar is emerging as this year’s best bet for enterprising celebrity stalkers: Jake Gyllenhaal, Dakota Johnson and Joel Edgerton were all there last night:

Norman Jewison talked to the young filmmakers of tomorrow at the CFC BBQ:

Jeremy Irons paid a visit to Brassaii:

Michael Shannon sat on someone at Montecito:

J.K. Simmons looked very calm at Holt Renfrew:

We’d never realized how much we wanted to eat at Hooters with Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult until we knew they’d already gone without us:

Elle Fanning was adorable at Cibo Wine Bar:

A gentleman and his dog ran into Sarah Silverman at Woofstock, and together they all took this perfect photo:

The same man later ran into Idris Elba, officially making this the greatest weekend of his (or anyone’s) life:

And finally, no matter where you go, Kevin Bacon is never far away:
