TIFF PARTY: Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have a threesome with a moose at Soho House

At long last, the much-anticipated, members-only, super-impossible-to-sneak-into Soho House opened its permanent Toronto location last night. Looper’s post-premiere party served as the first of what will be many TIFF bashes. The film’s opening-night screening marked the first time in years the festival opened with a Hollywood blockbuster—a snub to CanCon, perhaps, but it proved to be a boon for star-stalkers. The celeb count was high for an opening-night soirée: Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Tate Donovan and Jason Reitman all attended. For all the gossip, check out the first edition of our dispatches from Soho House below—by onsite bureau chief Courtney Shea.

As with previous pop-up incarnations, the aesthetic at “the House” (it’s “the House,” not “Soho,” FYI) is “Downton Abbey drawing room after dark.” The space looks effortlessly chic, which is really saying something, given that staffers were still running around in hard hats, lifting furniture and putting on various other finishing touches up to the last minute. Guests sipped Grey Goose cocktails (the Fizz was our fave) and snacked on tiny Cuban sandwiches and gourmet marshmallows.

Local boldies like Robert Lantos, Michael Budman, Dan Levy, Shinan Govani, Matte Babel, Ashleigh Dempster and Amanda Blakely made appearances, but we have all year to talk about them, so onto a few observations on the real A-list.

• Bruce Willis is a Die Hard Dad
Willis somehow managed to ooze testosterone while wearing a pink shirt and showing off pictures of his newborn. Seriously, this guy could do ruggedly handsome in a muumuu. And he’s such a gentleman—on two different occasions he politely let us pass by him (swoon!).

• Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are the most adorable couple ever
Blunt and Krasinski made us want to stare and coo all night. In civilian land it may be normal for married couples to attend one another’s professional events, but married celebs don’t abide by the same rules. Their coupletastic presence was deeply awwww-worthy—not to mention the public displays of affection. The happy couple really cut loose inside the House, with Blunt dancing on the spot and even fake licking a papier mâché moose over the fireplace. Canadian and kinky. We love it!

• Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his career are scotch-bonnet hot right now
The man is a stud—in that quiet, intellectual, polite kind of way. In fact, we’re going to go ahead and say it: He’s a young Robbie Robertson. That’s right.
