Michael Douglas watches sports more than movies; is not a fan of ‘MyFace’ or Twitter

Michael Douglas may not get Twitter, but his dad does

“I’m going to tell you a big secret: I don’t see a lot of movies.” This was Michael Douglas at the press conference for Solitary Man. “I love the process and making movies, but I’m a sports and news junkie because I don’t know how they’re going to end. Unfortunately, for so many movies, I can guess the ending halfway through.”

Still, the debonair actor praised Toronto’s local talent and the variety of films offered (“It’s just a gas. The people and the volunteers should be really proud.”) as well as Canada’s solvent banks.

But the best part was the non-sequitor question posed by one reporter about Douglas’s opinion on social networking:

“My father is referenced as the oldest person on MySpace, and I remember I once said on a show that my father has a profile on MyFace,” said Douglas. “I got a note from my dad saying, ‘Dear Michael, I’ve got 800 new friends.’ Twitter? I can’t get over this. How can people get things done?”

It’s hard, Michael. It’s hard. In fact, we’re Tweeting as you speak, which reminds us: for non-stop festival gossip, follow us on Twitter.
