Hugo Boss on Bloor Street played host to a party for Lars Von Trier’s film Melancholia, starring Kirsten Dunst and Alexander Skarsgård. The evening ran like most TIFF events: free booze, delicious nibbles and awkward gawking by everyone. Of course, the typical Canadian stars were there, like Flare’s Lisa Tant, Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman from CBC’s Steven and Chris, the National Post’s Nathalie Atkinson and random guests like Douglas Alexander Smith (who played Ben Henrickson on Big Love). We couldn’t help but be into Skarsgård (hey, he played a model in Zoolander) but we were still shocked when we learned that every female we knew crushed hard on the guy. Holt Renfrew’s Jen Daubney was weak in the knees, gushing “he looked me right in the eyes,” while the Globe and Mail’s Tiyana Grulovic melted “look, he’s removing layers of clothing,” as Skarsgård took off his jacket. Fashion magazine’s Randi Bergman lusted as she approached the True Blood star while freelance writer and editor Siofan Davies took iPhone pictures. Dunst, meanwhile, hammed under a giant photo of herself on the patio, wearing a Prada blouse (sadly, no Gucci bra, like the Jay-Z song) and Chanel skirt, mock dancing to the ambient techno and hanging with her crew of producers and well-wishers. Despite the willingness of the crowd, we don’t think Skarsgård left with a new girlfriend. Check out all of the events attendees, including an incredibly hot Alexander Skarsgård after the jump.
