What do you do if you’re a major Hollywood celeb like Kate Winslet and want to ghost the afterparty of your own movie premiere? Change from your incredible floor-length gown to a pantsuit in the bathroom and leave out the back stairs.

However, Winslet wasn’t the only A-lister at Byblos after The Dressmaker screening last night. Burgeoning Australian actress Sarah Snook glowed in a gorgeous gown with side details. As guests munched on mini lobster rolls and drank champagne, most women debated the possibility of striking up a conversation with Liam Hemsworth and possibly getting to make out with him forever and forever until they died. Hemsworth, who was tall and striking in a dress shirt, pants and vest (controversial move!), mostly chatted with a crew of Australian bros. When an awed female Sun reporter approached to grab a selfie, his friends vetted her with their eyes. It was all very Entourage.

One male critic from the Christian Science Monitor had a problem with Hemsworth’s sexualization in the film. “He’s always taking his shirt off, getting fitted for this and that. It was a bit much,” he said. Director Jocelyn Moorhouse was there with her husband, P.J. Hogan (he directed Muriel’s Wedding; they’re an adorable Australian power couple). She had this to say to the reporter: “Liam’s a modern man, and he certainly didn’t have a problem with it. The female gaze is real, so get used to it.” Hell yes.
