Guess who blew over $30 million on films at TIFF this weekend

TIFF’s only on day five, but already four huge films have found buyers. On Saturday, A24 purchased the rights to Tom Hardy’Lock and Focus Features spent $7 million on Jason Bateman’s Bad Words; on Sunday, Harvey Weinstein won a $20-million bid for John Carney’Can a Song Save Your Life? starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo; and today, ICM Partners sold the U.S. rights to John Turturro and Woody Allen’s Fading Gigolo to Millenium Pictures for $3 million. Doing the math, that’s over $30 million dropped in three days.
