Ed Norton celebrates Leaves of Grass premiere by ignoring media
Last night at Cheval, the famously withdrawn Ed Norton encountered a swarm of reporters upon his arrival to the Leaves of Grass after party. (He was not as lucky as Colin Farrell and Bono, who faced just one journo at their party at Atelier.) Media workers had been camped out for a couple of hours on King Street, but when the recluse arrived he had a snarl on his face that read, “I hate you. All of you.” He declined to walk the red carpet or even glance toward a camera. The party, billed as “Ed Norton Presents,” was really just Ed Norton Pissed.
Feeling our pain of useless waiting around, kindly publicists delivered Vitamin Water to the dehydrated, semi-irate and exhausted photography pit. Although Norton stormed off, we were fortunate to catch a dainty-yet-fierce Keri Russell (who also despises the limelight), as well as Danny DeVito and his family, who were even shorter than we’d predicted. Inside, DJ K-os had the crowd knocking hips and getting down, but the rooftop VIP was strictly off-limits to us. Perhaps Norton should take a cue from his film Leaves of Grass and chillax with a fat one.
This is unfair.
The guy had been on his feet and working the crowds all day for the premiere of the movie. kind of the point of TIFF. He was charming & gracious during the Q&A, signed quite a few autographs and did his share of interviews before & after the premiere. And the patience & graciousness let’s face it..a gifted actor who really doesn’t give a shit about awards or what critics think…is pretty awesome.
The movie wasn’t amazing. But it had it’s moments of hilarious & sad & Edward Norton was brilliant as always. But the gift that shines the most is Tim Blake Nelson’s gift of being able to write a script that was absolutely perfect for Edward Norton. The end of the movie dragged a bit but the key point was Edward Norton was brilliant as always.
Also, kind of cheap to draw attention to an article with Edward’s name but don’t say anything worthwhile about him.
“Take a cue from Ed’s character a chillax with a fat one.” I love this article.
I agree with Janna,he was great the premiere, did all the press and was quite charming at the Q & A….why are people judged for not caring about the spotlight!! Keep up the good work Ed
It’s another chapter in the Ed Norton monologue. I have NO sympathy for some poor actor, who’s job it is to play nice during TIFF, and just blows the media/fans off.
Ed is a classic example of “actor gone wrong”. He’s outright MEAN to crew and fellow cast members. Holds the media in contempt for the very IDEA that they report his nasty and self-absorbed tantrums.
Whatever. He will be a speck in the rear view mirror one day. Or so the crews and actors in THIS town hope anyway.
