Move over, House of Lancaster. There are a whole bunch of girls doing the cancan coming our way. Etobicoke is getting its very own Rockettes, as New York’s famed Radio City Music Hall is planning to open its first satellite venue. The project is scheduled for completion by 2013 and will feature cafés, nightclubs, a skating rink, heated outdoor sidewalks, a 400-metre canal, a 600-room four-star hotel, a 16-screen cinema and a 100,000-square-foot conference centre.

If it goes through, it will ring in at more than $1 billion and will be one of the most ambitious urban developments in Toronto’s history—to say nothing of its impact on the down-and-out Rexdale neighbourhood where it would be built. The Globe and Mail reports that Black Cordish, vice-president of one of the companies developing the project, and Rob Ford, city councillor for the area, were both mum on what tenants would occupy the space, but we’re holding out for a replica Eiffel Tower à la Vegas.
