Blue Hut Rentals, run by Terry Goy, offers the ice fishing equivalent of glamping. From January through March, his heated huts—complete with augered holes, padded benches and live bait—can be rented by the day on Lake Simcoe. Guests bring their own snacks and high-octane refreshment; the lake provides perch, pike and whitefish. Chilling in the pristine wilderness is a thoroughly meditative experience, interrupted only by the occasional victorious yelp from a neighbouring shack. Fishing licences are required, but one-day passes can be purchased on the Government of Ontario’s website or at any Canadian Tire. From $45 per adult. 1155 Gilford Rd., Cooks Bay, Innisfil, 905-775-2754.
