Already-pricey Maple Leafs tickets are getting more expensive

The Maple Leafs may already have the NHL’s most expensive tickets (by a whopping 50 per cent), but that isn’t stopping Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment from hiking prices by about 2.5 per cent starting next season. According to MLSE CEO Tom Anselmi, the increase, which will also hit Raptors ticket prices, is necessary because “costs have gone up dramatically…players salaries, operating costs, league costs.”  (Forgive us, but we thought the NHL’s salary cap was dropping next year.) No doubt loyal fans will continue to fill the arena, but it seems like a big ask to increase ticket prices when the team hasn’t made the playoffs in nearly a decade. Imagine how much they’d be paying if the team was actually winning.
