49As minister of Indigenous and northern affairs, Bennett heads up a cornerstone of the Liberal campaign: a two-year, $54-million inquiry into the 1,200 Indigenous women and girls who have been murdered or gone missing since 1980. She managed to secure $14 million more than the Liberals originally earmarked for the project and she appointed five arm’s-length commissioners to lead the inquiry.
