Sheppard subway needs a quick, cool $10 million to kick-start a private-public partnership
Apparently, the city’s (read: Rob Ford’s) Sheppard subway dream could soon be a reality—just as long as the city is prepared to shell out another $10 million and suspend disbelief for another year. (Gordon Chong still believes the public-private partnership is “doable,” but with time and money he would know for sure.) Can’t wait to see Ford try to justify spending another 10 million to further study the viability of his Sheppard subway “plan” at the same as he’s advocating cutting school lunches, and other programs in order to supposedly fix the city’s financial woes.
Besides, isn’t this exactly the type of expenditure that he would have railed against as being “gravy” back when he was a councillor?
The “$5 to $10 million in funding” should go to the service cuts they are forced to do in Rob Ford’s artificial budget problem that he created by himself.
“Mayor Ford’s Four Priorities:
1 Customer Service Excellence
2 Transparent & Accountable Government
3 Reduced Cost and Size of Government
4 Transportation City”
Wrong on all counts.
Isn’t it obvious that with these ill defined numbers and the fact that it is going to be a private/public system that we are going to lose millions to corrupt businessmen who will be working on this project instead of actually using that money to better the PUBLIC.
