Karen Stintz offered the TTC chair job to Rob Ford—twice
At an event for the Women’s Executive Network yesterday, Karen Stintz admitted to offering to quit her job as TTC chair—twice. Apparently, Stintz, frustrated during last winter’s intense head-butting over transit plans, offered up the position to Rob Ford. (We imagine some regret on the mayor’s part for not taking her up on it, since Stintz eventually toppled his subway-centric transit vision.) Stintz told Anne-Marie Mediwake that she was used to a “non-communicative environment,” having been raised by her taciturn engineer father. But the TTC tug of war between LRTs and subways was a different story: “Working for the Ford administration was the first time in my life I absolutely felt an inability to communicate with a group of men. I had never experienced that before.” Yikes. No wonder the administration has a lacklustre reputation when it comes to gender relations. [CBC News]

Karen Stintz should offer her job to Rob Ford now. She will save our city lot of damage she and her commissioners have caused, and will continue to cause. That is an honorable thing to do for her.
She has no experience or expertise in the matter and her continuation is a disaster for the city dwellers who are being offered a surface snail transit which is downright dangerous to the riders,and other municipal safety functions. She clearly is very irresponsible. The commission is violating Human Rights of scarberians by discriminating. Look at Vaughan and other 905 cities who have travel time guarantees in addition if the GO system is late.
Chandra, she has no experience and expertise and BOZO KFC eating FORD has got what ?! Get real. She respect people’s idea and feedback and does not run a totalitarian TTC unlike Ford who runs a 1 man show with his brother. Pick the better of 2 evils, she will do.
John is a typical leftwinger – making fun of Rob Ford because he’s dumb and fat, and not criticizing his policy successes, like getting rid of the bag tax and burying part of the Eglinton LRT.
NO I am not Joe… when he gets rid of the City of Toronto tax on homes which brings in $300Mil to the city pocket, and then cut services to city residents and keep saying cutting the gravy, will you call that success ? The bag tax ? Should have increased it to 10 cents per bag and force the proceeds to City environmental funds versus the pockets of companies like Loblaws. Successes? I want my property tax increased, I begged him so he wont cut services from the poor while he lives his multi millionaire life!
The city must be taking in more money in property taxes now than ever before with all the development – condos and larger homes and much of it happening in Ward 16. My mother is an elderly/disabled senior living in this ward since 1963 and currently paying over $6000.00 a year in property taxes on an older home. She does not even leave her home, let alone use the TTC. Why should she pay more property tax?
