Stephen Harper gives his annual display of warm-bloodedness, sings rock music
Last October, Stephen Harper caused a bit of a fuss by demonstrating that he had artistic skills and a beating heart—he sang “With a Little Help From My Friends” by the Beatles. Well, it’s a bit late, but he’s once again felt the need to demonstrate his mammalian nature, this time by bringing out some classic rock tunes; The Who, Neil Diamond, the Rolling Stones and others made it into his live performance this time. We’d expect political opponents to give this one a pass—even the PM gets to have some fun. Instead, Liberal insiders decided the best response was self-parody, according to the Globe and Mail:
Upstaged yet again by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who took to the stage Wednesday night at the Conservative caucus Christmas party, the Liberals were up early grumpily emailing reaction.
“Not even one song in French,” a senior Ignatieff official told The Globe and Mail on Thursday morning. “One week after Quebec’s artistic elite (over 100 songwriters and singers) came to Parliament Hill on C-32. It shows that he is clueless about Quebec culture.”
Of course, anonymous Liberal insiders are missing an even easier attack they could try: Harper played, but did not sing, a few bars from John Lennon’s “Imagine” as a tribute to the musician on the anniversary of his death. We’re squirming in anticipation of the duelling attack ads, as Liberals accuse Harper of dishonouring a great musician, and Conservatives denounce the Liberal obsession with Atheism and Communism. (Seriously, listen to the lyrics. Harper was never going to sing that song.)

Harper says he is religious, well then keep this in mind, Jesus warned;

I know Harper through his Government and he is a liar that is committing many evils. Harper is not what he appears to be!
I would never say someone is a liar unless I knew it, and I know it. I have such anger against him for using the media in this way!
Will Toronto Life ever give up its pretentious “we’re so cool it hurts” shtick. I foolishly subscribed foe one year and, less than half way through it, was suffering from terminal boredom. I got to the point I couldn’t even give it away. These are the guys who “swoon” when Harper plays a Beatle tune, then wonders why young people find them pathetic. If Harper at the NAC was the cultural highlight of your year, you have a few problems.
