Ford brothers send flowers to all the women on Toronto city council
Hey, it’s Valentine’s Day: in a move that shows that rivals can still be kind even in a nasty political atmosphere, mayor Rob Ford and his brother councillor Doug Ford delivered roses to each of city council’s 14 female councillors, including Maria Augimeri (pictured). Shocking no one, the Brothers Ford had nothing for the dudes on council, even after Glenn De Baeremaeker shared such a special moment with the new mayor during his inauguration ceremonies (one wonders what they’d have done if Kyle Rae was still around).
Remember how, at first, Ford’s executive committee was a total sausage fest? (Councillors Jaye Robinson and Michelle Berardinetti were added after the initial selections by the mayor.) And how half the women on council are either on the fence or outright opposed to most of what Ford is doing around the city? Right. Enjoy this moment of comity while it lasts, everyone—it will likely be followed by the boys fighting with the women over the things the former hate and the latter love.
Gross. After all of his talk about how $5000 staff parties are an outrageous expense (it’s a drop in the budget bucket, as any party planner knows) and the corner cutting/derailing of the gravy train, this is not only unnecessary spending, but sucking up and gender division. This move feels icky to me, not sweet.
This is like elementary school.
These guys are hopelessly old school, and creepily attached at the hip. Not a classy move, Ford Brothers. Just. Plain. Tacky.
Oh come on – undoubtedly they paid out of their pockets – it’s what they are famous for. I don’t know many women who are offended by getting flowers and I don’t see why it’s so tacky. The Fords suck coming and going, but slamming everything they do only reinforces the perception that the opposition is a bunch of whiny whiners, like you lot.
I’m glad to see that chivalry is not dead in the Ford brothers. This classy act supports my life long belief that, just bcos one does battle on view points, one does not have to be mean spirited towards ones fellow man/woman.
I think that if Miller did this, then the lefties would rally with cheers, rather than the usual Ford bashing. This type of message sure does elude the sarcastic lefties, doesn’t it.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FORD BROTHERS!
AND THANK YOU AGAIN, FOR SHARING & CARING FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN, AND THAT INCLUDES THE MEAN SPIRITED LEFTIES! lolololol
Moderate: It’s sexist and tacky. It would have been one thing if they had sent a small gift to all the Councillors, but to centre out the women on Valentine’s Day, was inappropriate.
If I were one of the Councillors I would have had the flowers sent on to a Nursing Home in my ward.
Totally agree – sexist and tacky. Very Berlusconi.
ok, that is just creepy. and homophobic of course as well. yeck.
I think it’s sweet but they should not have been red roses – a mix of other platonic rose colours would have better reflected the spirit in which they were intended.
Very classy, I dont think it was meant to curry favor, just a jesture of good will to their fellow workers. thats all, so many people read things into this very simple thing.
sad.
its meant to make a person “feel great” what is wrong with that??? we need more of it, not less..
Ted
Just a simple jesture from the Mayors office. nothing more, nothing less, Its the little things that make life worthwhile and Fords do it well. They care about people.
The “Rogue Mayor” Adam Vaugan has been “muzzled” he is still in schock that the majority of 4 million people in the city voted for Mayor
Ford.
what a track record, the left leaning pinkos are finished. and love to see them “squirm” in their seats, frustrated that they cannot increase taxes or feed at the trough.
Who is running this city? Get rid of all the councillors and the FORD BROTHERS????????????!!!!!!!!!!
The City will be saving lots lots of money$$$$$$
