At a ceremonial raising of the Chinese flag at city hall this morning, mayoral candidate Doug Ford came close to repeating his brother’s infamous diplomatic error. According to the Star’s Daniel Dale, Ford called Chinese-Canadians “extremely hardworking people.” But it didn’t stop there. “We’re like-minded in the way that the Chinese community is very fiscally responsible,” Ford added, presumably thinking that the generalization would be taken as a compliment. “And I know one thing: they want subways. They don’t want anything else.”

Because we all know that every Chinese person thinks like Doug Ford, no matter what. What a nimrod he is.
Why was he raising the Chinese flag to begging with? He’s not the mayor.
wait, I’m no fan of Doug (at all), but how exactly did he “come close to repeating his brother’s error”? His brother called them “Orientals” and said they “work like dogs”. How is this similar?

City hall is pretty much constantly raising the flags of different groups and countries. Doug just happened to be at this one.
It’s generalizing by race. No different than saying all blacks have rhythm and want basketball courts built. The Fords treat people of ethnicity as though they’re all one stereotype.
It’s like saying white folks can’t dance or Asians can’t drive or… Well hopefully you get the drift

Just try asking a black person an opinion on black issues as if they speak for the entire black population.
Asians are as diverse in belief and political stripes as any group, it’s wrong to make a statement as if they all think alike.

Yes lets raise communist flag over Toronto ,the red flag that represents oppression torture killings of journalist protesters and totalitarian control of an entire nation and its neighboring states. Its iron fist control is all encompassing and even restricts the very basic ability to freely express oneself. Flying the red flag over the beautiful city of Toronto suggests support and tolerance for forces which oppress others and deny them the basic liberties that we take hold dear in Canada. I wont even mention Tibet but i will mention Hong Kong and its people who are fighting for their rights and life as we speak. Oh and Fords can suck it long and hard
