Star Liberal candidate Chrystia Freeland bought a million-dollar house one block away from her NDP rival
Political rivals Chrystia Freeland and Linda McQuaig have a lot in common: both are successful journalists, both hold strong views on income inequality, and both really want Bob Rae’s former seat in Toronto Centre. And now they’re neighbours, too. On Friday, Freeland, who recently moved back to Toronto after working for Reuters in New York, bought a townhouse with a finished basement, a back garden, and—most importantly—a Summerhill address within the boundaries of the riding she hopes to represent. The $1.275-million Victorian also happens to be a mere block from the house McQuaig has lived in since 2000, which has us hoping to witness a few awkward run-ins at Harvest Wagon. [Ottawa Citizen]
Oh, for Pete’s sake. She’s got to live somewhere. I hardly think she did a canada411 search before making an offer. I’m sure they’ll both cope.
Does anyone else find it odd that an NDP candidate hoping to target income inequality issues lives in a neighbourhood where the asking price for homes is the 1.25 Million mark? Just saying…
Targeting income inequality ≠ communism.
