Air Canada workers stage short-lived wildcat strike and ruin at least one childhood
Having apparently decided Toronto’s librarians look pretty cool walking the picket lines, Air Canada workers launched a wildcat strike late last night, forcing at least 115 flights out of Pearson Airport to be cancelled or delayed. The workers were riled up over the suspension of three of their colleagues, who mockingly slow clapped when they spotted Labour Minister Lisa Raitt at Pearson last night (the nerve!). This morning, Air Canada obtained an injunction to send the workers back to the tarmac. However, judging from the insults (and sad stories of shattered childhood dreams) circulating on Twitter, delayed passengers will hold a grudge for a while longer. Suspended for slow-clapping one of their betters! What did the Air Canada brass think they were doing by sanctioning slow-clapping?

And they won’t be blaming the Tories or Lisa Raitt, who have a mandate from Canadians to drive down wages and severely restrict employee benefits, in order to reduce the expectations of greedy young Canadians entering the job market with plans to retire or take vacations; and to improve our competitive image by promoting Canada’s cheap and disposable labour pool.
