Toronto named one of the world’s “emerging” destinations
In this weekend’s New York Times Style Magazine, Toronto was singled out as an up-and-coming travel destination, along with Barbados, Munich, Bahrain and Acrra, Ghana. The proof: Virgin Airlines is beginning flights to the city from L.A. and San Francisco starting in June to cater to “players in the new Hollywood North—studio heads and their stars—along with tech professionals and venture capitalists from the Bay Area.” Surprise, surprise—the city’s hotel “boomlet,” which Maryam Sanati documented in our June issue, gets a mention. The Thompson, Ritz-Carlton and Trump make the list of hot places to stay.
Toronto is a great city but to compare it to destinations like Barbados and Munich is a bit of a stretch don’t you think?
Hahaha wait til these high rollers get to this dump and realize there ain’t nothing for them to do! Mmmm enjoy a meal of Swiss Chalet at Pearson T3? Visit Dundas Square and have a hot dog?
Nothing to do? You have to be pretty helpless to end up bored here… although maybe the local Bingo scene isn’t up to scratch, if that’s what you’re getting at. I wouldn’t know…
Oooh, recognition-starved Toronto gets another “mention” by a real city’s media!!!!
Hate to break it to the wanabees, but while diverse, with lots to see and do, you will still never, ever hear our fair city listed with the big guns: New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, TORONTO??!!!
Please.
And while you’re at it, keep hoping for a world’s fair, the Olympics, etc. . . .
