The royal snubbers Prince William and Kate Middleton (Image: Esther)
Prince William and Kate Middleton, the hottest properties of the modern monarchy, have announced their Canadian tour (yes, like a band), and sadly Toronto has been left off the bill. They will of course be in Ottawa (June 30 to July 2), and they’ll also appear in Montreal (July 2), Quebec City (July 3), Charlottetown (July 3), Summerside, P.E.I. (July 4), Yellowknife (July 4 to 6) and Calgary (Stampede! July 6 to 8).
Those looking to scuff up their shoes tailing the royal duo may not have to work too hard, because Prime Minister Stephen Harper said in a statement that “the couple’s decision to visit Canada first is a testament to our country’s close relationship with the Crown and Royal Family, and an opportunity for all Canadians to take pride in our traditions, history, and institutions.” We think it’s a shame Toronto has been snubbed, but the least the Duchess of Cambridge could do is pay homage to our city by wearing our designers on her back. That’s why we’ve selected four fetching numbers for the prim and proper (and once-not-so-classy ) first wife:

70513 If Kate Middleton doesn’t wear this design by Jeremy Laing (who was just nominated for the ANDAM award), she can’t be considered the Michelle Obama of Cambridge. That's all there is to it. 70514 Available at Holt Renfrew for $1,000 (we assume this is what Middleton now refers to as chump change), this Lida Baday dress is typical of the duchess's conservative style, yet Torontonian. If she needs to be simple and understated, we’d love to see her in this Baday number. 70439 Sure, the shorts would make an old matron faint, but Middleton has the gams to wear this Pink Tartan outfit head to toe. Waist-up says, “How do you do?” and waist-down says, ”I’m fine.” (Image: Jenna Marie Wakani) Pink Tartan Spring/Summer 2011 https://torontolife.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Pink-Tartan.jpg https://torontolife.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Pink-Tartan.jpg https://torontolife.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Pink-Tartan.jpg 416 624 {"aperture":"4","camera":"Canon EOS-1D Mark III","created_timestamp":"1287430442","focal_length":"200","iso":"800","shutter_speed":"0.004"} https://torontolife.com/city/prince-william-and-kate-middleton-to-tour-canada-not-toronto-but-what-will-she-wear/slide/pink-tartan/ pink-tartan 0 0
70438 Given what we’ve seen Middleton wearing lately, it seems she’s reached an embellishment cap after her wedding dress by Alexander McQueen. We think taking baby steps is the right approach, so we recommend this bolder print with a demure skirt by Philip Sparks. I think it is refreshing they do not want to come to Toronto and don’t blame them for wanting to visit PEI I went there and loved it
Good. One day we’ll pull down the statues in Toronto and get that ugly hag off our money. The revolution will begin here.
