44The award-winning CBC health journalist turned physician assistant became a leading voice for assisted dying after watching her husband, Dr. Donald Low, suffer through the painful effects of terminal brain cancer. She co-chaired a national panel of experts that consulted with Canadians and studied countries with assisted dying laws, such as Switzerland, before handing a 65-page report of recommendations to the government.
