Hot or not? Shirtless men shilling Stayfree pads
Check out the creepy new Old Spice–influenced viral marketing campaign for Stayfree (at left), done by the Toronto ad firm BBDO. Titled “A Date With Stayfree,” the promos feature buff shirtless men doing things women stereotypically find charming—like cleaning, cooking and, of course, making toys for underprivileged kids—before launching into an unnerving pitch about the absorbency of Stayfree. Sure, the guys are hot, but any dude who busted out a display table of pads (“They’re as thin as a butterfly’s wings”) on the first date would send us running.
Holy cow this is awkward and creepy.
These creepy men are not gonna help my cramps go away.
Ha! Definitely not hot, but pretty funny.
AWFUL. Pads on the dinner table? And how dares him to ask if I’m still hungry????
Oh gross. It’s like those douchebags telling us to “have a happy period”. Eff off.
Please just leave me alone, let me roll up in a ball, and hope my cramps go away. In the meantime, don’t talk to me.
This is actually pretty funny! I love that the ONE thing women NEVER talk about with guys is coming from hot guys. Beer companies use the same sexist tactics with men – why can’t women have a little eye candy? Is the free pack of Stayfree available in Canada?
This is supposed to be a joke, right? I’m not sure if I am taking it the right way, but I pretty sure its not supposed to be taken seriously … I found it hilarious. I clicked through to the coupon site and requested the coupon … so it seems to be valid in Canada (it’s a .ca website). Kudos to Stayfree – its one of the better period ads I’ve seen. (a bit too long tho)
Kotex had it right with a young woman telling us how tight she is with her period, “And that blue stuff, thanks for letting me know what it should look like.” an incredibly funny ad that hit it right on the nose with honesty and a completely target focused campaign.
The thing that kills me about this creepy Stayfree, ‘Viral video’ attempt is that it was clearly art directed by a man. No woman is this condescending or this dumb.
