A day into his mayoralty, John Tory riles up council’s left
—Newly elected Ward 20 councillor Joe Cressy in an interview with the National Post, after new mayor John Tory made it known that he would be giving plum political appointments almost exclusively to right-leaning councillors. Cressy was alluding to Tory’s centrist rhetoric on the campaign trail.
Just when I thought that there would be no more of this childish ‘leftist’ rhetoric when Adam Vaughan left, in comes Joe Cressy complaining. Not to mention, we’ve got Kristin Wong-Tam crying the blues as well. Geez, he’s still in the midst of being sworn in and the left is already acting like the mayor owes them something. How about doing something competent in your ward first and then maybe you will be able to join the executive?
It took Now Weekly less than a week to gripe about Tory ‘ruining the city’. The election was on a Monday, 2 nights later, Wednesday night I’m reading in the Now how he is hell bent on destroying the city. And just earlier tonight I was reading an article in the “News” (I know… I always laugh when I see a News section in the Now as well) that Tory is heading down the same path as Ford, only minus the crack pipe. Everyone, especially Now, is basically Fox News. And they all wonder why nobody takes them seriously.
